Denver has a history, stretching back more than four decades, of supporting the disability rights movement. In 1982, Denver became the first metropolitan region in the country to provide large-scale wheelchair-accessible buses. Yes, even though Denver is near the mountains, the streets are flat and the sidewalks are wide. Denver also has a robust and accessible transportation network with an airport train that provides a direct connection to downtown, plus light rail and buses.
