Your workout is a little different a mile above sea level.

If you're looking for a Rocky Mountain "boot camp" to jump-start your summer conditioning, here are several public places you can work out while enjoying the scenery, the camaraderie and the fun of being outdoors in Denver's fresh, dry, mile-high climate!

Fresh-Air Fitness

Civic Center MOVES

WHEN: Two classes on Wednesday mornings (5:30–6:15 a.m. and 6:15–7 a.m.)
WHERE: Civic Center Park (May through mid-October) and McNichols Civic Center Building (mid-October through April)
COST: Free

Civic Center MOVES is a free fitness series for all experience levels year-round. Best of all, from late April through early October the classes happen right in the heart of Downtown's beautiful Civic Center Park. Produced by the Civic Center Conservancy, the current class schedule includes full-body, running-based workouts with The November Project on Wednesday mornings. 

Mile High Zen: Yoga

Yoga on the Rocks

WHEN: Thru Aug. 13, 2022; Saturdays at 7 a.m.
WHERE: Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre
COST: $17 single session, $80 5-pack, $150 season pass; must buy tickets in advance online

Join other yoga enthusiasts for a sunrise session at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, one of the most spectacular venues in the world. The Yoga on the Rocks sessions are held at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings during the summer. Bring water and a yoga mat! The July 9 and Aug. 6 classes are bilingual for English and Spanish speakers!

Yoga at Denver Botanic Gardens

COST: $10 members, $12 non-members 

At Denver Botanic Gardens, awaken your energy and unlock your inner potential through breathing, movement, stretching, meditation and mantra with yoga at the Gardens. Just bring your yoga mat and a bottle of water, and breathe in the fresh, floral air. Check the events calendar for days and times. 

Zen Out Yoga

WHEN: Half- and full-day hikes, plus retreats and special events

If you want to experience yoga and Colorado's great outdoors it doesn't get better than this. Zen Out Yoga offers hiking along with stops to practice yoga and meditation while you take in fresh mountain air. Check the schedule for upcoming hikes and retreats, or contact Zen Out Yoga to book a private hike.

Stretch & Sip Yoga

WHEN: Thru Sept. 17, 2022; Saturdays at 9 a.m.
WHERE: Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station

Start your weekend with a Saturday morning Stretch & Sip yoga class. This is your invitation to unwind and relax with a 60-minute yoga session on the outdoor patio of the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station. This donation-based class will be supporting a local wellness nonprofit. Following class, attendees are invited for a complimentary mimosa with a purchase of an entrée at Woodie Fisher Kitchen & Bar!

Poses and Mimosas

WHEN: Sept. 4 and Oct. 2, 2022; 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: First Draft Taproom

Grab your mat and join Third Space Yoga on the patio at First Draft Taproom on the first Sunday of the month from June to October! This all-levels yoga class will be followed by a round of mimosas.

Summer Yoga at Western Sky

WHEN: Sept. 4 and Sept. 18, 2022; 11 a.m.
WHERE: Western Sky Bar & Taproom, Englewood

Head to Western Sky Bar & Taproom for a morning yoga class taught by certified yoga instructor Elizabeth Capps in a relaxed and judgment-free environment. Bring your mat and stick around after class and enjoy a beverage included with your registration fee!

Yoga on the Terrace

WHERE: The ART Hotel Denver, Curio Collection by Hilton

Join Black Swan Yoga Denver on the 4th floor FIRE Terrace for complimentary yoga on Saturdays in May and June! Attendees will have access to complimentary valet parking during the event as well as $10 Bottomless Mimosas from the FIRE Restaurant & Lounge following the class. 

Run It Off

Run clubs let Denverites socialize during their workout. Meet some locals, try some beers and burn some calories while exploring some of Denver's hippest neighborhoods.

Denver Beer Company Run Club 

WHEN: Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., year-round

Show up at the brewery, do a little stretching, learn the route and then set off on a 5K walk/jog/run. End your evening with a few beers on one Denver Beer Co.'s sunny patios. Runs start from the Platte Street, Olde Town Arvada, and Downing Street taprooms.  

Highland Tap & Burger Run Club

WHEN: Every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. (10k) and 6:30 p.m. (5k), year-round
WHERE: Highland Tap & Burger
COST: Free

Meet up with fellow fitness enthusiasts for the Highland Tap & Burger Run Club, and run a pre-planned 5k- or 10k-loop around the historic neighborhoods of Lower Downtown and the Highlands. All runners get free pasta and salad, as well as 20 percent off select beers. Highland Tap & Burger features dozens of Colorado craft beers on tap and in bottles.

Run the Bird in Wash Park

WHEN: Every Wednesday at 6 p.m., April–Oct.
WHERE: Blackbird Public House
COST: Free

Join your neighbors at Blackbird Public House for an evening 5K run around Washington Park. All runners receive $4 select Colorado craft beers and a free shirt at 15 runs. 

Colfax Marathon

WHEN: May. 20–21, 2023
WHERE: City Park

Denver’s springtime race is the ultimate running tour of the city — with mountain views. The Colfax Marathon starts and finishes in City Park and travels through Empower Field at Mile High (where the Broncos play) and along seven miles of rivers, lakes and bridges, while a half marathon takes a route through the zoo. Ten-mile and 5K options are also available.

Two-Wheeled Workouts

With 85 miles of paved bike trails and a gigantic bike-sharing program, Denver is one of America's top cycling-centric cities.

Denver Cruiser Ride

WHEN: Wednesdays, May–September

The Denver Cruiser Ride is a weekly pub crawl that meets on Wednesday nights to cycle safely through the streets of Denver. A mid-week Mile High City tradition for over a decade, each of the 20 summer rides boasts a different theme — often involving zany costumes. With close to 60,000 people turning out over the season, the Denver Cruiser Ride has become the largest weekly bike party on the planet! Past themes have included Denver 1894, Mad Max, Bike Prom and Birds & Bees. Check the website Wednesday afternoon for that night's starting point.
